Speak Beta Messages Pool

In honor of Version 1 of the new Speak now being complete. We thought it would be fun to start a betting pool to see who can guess how many test messages where created during the 5 weeks of beta.

Some information to help you guess:

  • There were 3 users during beta. (Me, Star, and a Bot).
  • There were many messages sent for just testing purposes.
  • All three of us used this for our primary communication to each other.
  • Beta lasts from September 1st to October 15th.

The rules are simple:

  • $5 gets you into the pool.
  • When you join the pool, submit a number which is your guess.
  • The pool will be closed for new guesses on October 15th.
  • The messages will be counted on October 15th.
  • The person who is closest to the actual number wins the entire pool (minus PayPal fees of course).

Surfer’s For Autism 2018

Surfers For Autism was a blast this year! Met great new people, including the guy who is taking over for Don next year when he retires, Moose Brown, and Amanda G., who I met at the start of the event and we hung out all day.

Wipe Out

Today was a hard day. It took me 50 minutes to get to work as there was stop and go traffic on the Matthews Bridge. Upon arriving, I attempted to ride my motorcycle up the ramp (think ramp on a curb/sidewalk) so I could park underneath the overhang of the school along the sidewalk. Well, I took the angle too sharp and ended up trying to go up more of the curb than the ramp. The bike stalled and I tried to put my feet down, but I was half up the ramp, so there was no ground under me. I toppled over. Luckily I was wearing all of my gear because I fell with the bike and hit my head on the road (helmets are worn for a reason). I’m not sure how I didn’t get pinned under my bike, but I didn’t. I got up and immediately started taking my gear off and moving stuff to the side walk that had fallen and turned off the bike. A man came out to help me from the school and asked if I was okay, which I was. He said that he didn’t know anything about motorcycles but asked how he could help. Together we lifted the bike back up. As I feared, there was damage. I shattered the mirror, busted a tail light, and scraped up the side in a few areas. I was so embarrassed to fall over with my bike in front of the school and so upset that I banged up my new bike. You don’t feel very cool when you crash, especially at slow speeds in a parking lot due to lack of skill/experience. I’m blogging about this because it helps to let it go. I am a new rider and accidents happen. After I collected myself a little I called Mat and told him what happened and that I was okay (but my pride was hurt). He offered to come save me right away and assured me that this happens to all new riders. He said he expected this to happen and that’s why he started me off on the 250cc (the smallest one). He said he did more damage to his first bike when he laid it down in a parking lot. He came all the way across town to Westside and brought a tool kit. He tightened everything up, bent my shift lever back out, and made sure it was safe to ride. The whole time reassuring me and explaining that it happens to us all and that slow speed maneuvers are the tricky ones. I scrape up this beautiful bike that he bought for me, and he’s not even upset. I mean, that is a whole lot of love and understanding if you ask me. Thank you, my love. I appreciate you. You made today suck less.

My Joints Hurt

If you don’t want to hear my rant, please, move on from this post. Last week my right knee started to ache. I had my chiropractor look at it and it felt better. This week the pain has returned. With it came pain in my right wrist. Really bad pain (which is great when you drive a motorcycle everyday – I’m sure that doesn’t help). Then tonight my left knee and left wrist started hurting ever so slightly. So now I’m falling apart and spent hours on Amazon finding the perfect Collagen Peptides, which should be here in 5-8 business days (because I’m terribly cheap and refuse to pay for shipping). I think this is a result of the Keto diet, which I’m not thrilled about. But then again I’ve been on the Keto diet for 4 straight months now, so maybe it’s something else. That’s all. Typing sucks.

Reducing Emissions

In an effort to reduce our emissions to help the planet, my husband bought us a pair of GSXR motorcycles. We also had a mid-size truck and an SUV. Ever since I was given the motorcycle, I have taken it to work nearly every day (I maybe took the SUV once every other week). My motorcycle gets about 77 mpg! Seriously, how amazing is that. I reduce my emissions, help save the planet, save money, and get to drive a super fun motorcycle. This past Saturday we decided to kick it up a notch. To further entice us to take the motorcycles when we are out together (think movies, restaurants, etc.) we sold the SUV. Now our main mode of transportation are motorcycles with a back up mid-size truck (gets almost as good of gas mileage as the SUV did) for things like hauling supplies, getting groceries, driving when it’s raining and desiring to stay dry, etc. It’s terrifying and exciting all at the same time. As a bonus, our bills are going down (insurance, tabs, maintenance, cleaning). And my husband is an absolute sweetheart and is paying off my student loan (that’s another topic in itself) with the money from the sale, plus his personal stash. Excited to be rid of all debt and help the planet!

Another batch of hot sauce

This time I saved my habaneros in the freezer and made a big batch all at once – 142 habaneros!

X Challenge

Mat is in a photography club for work. This is what he came up with for the X challenge.

Happy Birthday, Mat!

We had spiced whoopie pies at midnight of Mat’s Birthday. On the day we celebrated with special Birthday breakfast (fried cheesy eggs, bacon, and sausage), presents & cards, Birthday tacos, cupcakes, and a walk on the beach.

Mint Extract

I put together homemade mint extract today from the mint in my garden. Now I have to wait 2 months before I can strain and try it. Mat said I could not buy the cheapest vodka in the plastic bottle, so Absolut it is!

Perfect Keto Pizza

I can’t believe how amazing this turned out.
